Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack 2023 Winter Tour kicks off tonight in North Charleston, SC and concludes with two nights, March 11 and 12 in Nashville, TN at the Ryman Auditorium. Ace: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is out now! The new album is available as a double CD as well as on digital and streaming services, and includes one of the special Radio City Music Hall performances in full with Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack and Barry Sless on pedal steel with special guests Tyler Childers and Brittney Spencer, as well as a remastered new mix of Ace. The newly remastered album is also available on custom “high roller” pearl white vinyl exclusively from Dead.net, with a black vinyl version to follow on February 3.

YES, who are Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood, will release their new studio album THE QUEST on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music on October 1.

Containing 11 songs, 8 on the main CD with 3 extra tracks on a bonus CD, THE QUEST will also be available on Vinyl and 5.1 Blu-ray and CD deluxe editions, all on the day of release. The track listing is below.

“It is simply an honour for me to have the opportunity to bring together the band members in the development of a well-refined set of songs that capture the band’s true potential,” said Steve Howe, who produced the album. He added, “Much of the music was written in late 2019 with the rest in 2020. We commissioned several orchestrations to augment and enhance the overall sound of these fresh new recordings, hoping that our emphasis on melody, coupled with some expansive instrumental solo breaks, keeps up the momentum for our listeners.” Additional percussion was provided by guest Jay Schellen who supplements YES’ live performances.

Label Manager Thomas Waber said, “I am delighted to welcome YES to the label and am looking forward to seeing the reaction of the band’s fans to the new album. YES Story

For half a century YES have been the definitive band of the progressive music genre, the band by which all others are judged. Their ground-breaking albums of the 70s set the standard for the genre and influenced countless others who followed in their wake.

The current line-up of YES was completed in 2015 when Billy Sherwood replaced founder member Chris Squire, at Squire’s insistence, as he bravely fought a losing battle with leukaemia. Since then, YES have concentrated on touring with their Album Series tours, each featuring a classic YES album in its entirety. During this period YES have released three live albums Topographic Drama – Live Across America (2017), Yes Live 50 (2019) and The Royal Affair Tour: Live in Las Vegas (2020).

The music of YES has endured over the years and has been handed down through generations of music lovers.

During the lockdown last year, Reed Mathis had lots of time on his hands. Setting an intention to use the downtime wisely, he decided to visit his storage space filled with countless recordings, photos and miscellaneous ephemera from his years and years of touring and recording with underground jazz experimentalists, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.

In Reed’s own words: “What I found in there astonished me.”

From those materials Reed uncovered, he’d assemble six releases worth of Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey music, as well as, creating a documentary short film chronicling his time with the band.

Those six archival recordings are now available for download and streaming everywhere you listen to music, while ‘Winterwood’—Reed’s final studio album with the band that went unreleased due to his leaving the group prior to completing its mixing—will also be released this August on double-LP vinyl and is available for pre-order now.

JFJO toured the U.S. many times over, while playing some of the biggest jazz festivals in Europe and beyond, developing a devoted audience. And yet for whatever reason, they never experienced the success many would argue they deserved for creating such fiercely original and groundbreaking music. The trio has been on hiatus for several years and it’s uncertain if we’ll ever see them perform together again. We’re certainly not crazy enough to think these six albums are going to lead to a widespread rediscovery, but if it can turn on a clutch of new heads who dare to dive into their ecstatic, visceral, purely vibrational sound, while delighting the old school fans who already know the magic they were capable of summoning, well then, we’ve done our job.
